Instructor of the Year Award: How does it work?

Introduction of the Instructor of the Year Award in 2024 aims to globally recognize exceptional instructors. The process for determining the winners is outlined below:

a. Upon completion of a course at your training centre, Course Participants have the opportunity to nominate their instructors after completing their participant survey in WINDA.

b. GWO will curate a list featuring the top-nominated instructors, considering both the quantity of nominations and the quality of recommendations.

c. Between May 1st and 17th, the training centre will receive an email requesting completion of five questions to officially accept the nomination within a two week period.

d. To aid them in their evaluation the external judging panel will receive information provided by the training provider, including noteworthy comments from participants.

e. Regional winners will be selected by the judging panel based on their assessments.

f. Shortlisted candidates will be notified during August.

g. Winners will be announced during the Safety & Training Awards Ceremony on October 9th in the United States.

The GWO Safety & Training Forum is designed for all wind industry decision-makers with a focus on safety and training. The Forum will welcome GWO member representatives, training providers, certification bodies, auditors, and opinion formers. This event is not aimed at wind technicians.

How do I reserve a place at the Forum?

Reservations for the Forum can be made through GWO’s Eventzilla booking system. You may book up to four tickets per booking for yourself and colleagues. After your reservation is approved GWO will invoice you the full amount (450 USD each) exclusive of Florida sales tax. Invoices can be paid with credit card or bank transfer only.

What happens after I submit my Awards entry?

You will receive an automatic acknowledgement email from GWO outlining the next steps. As a first step entries will be screened by GWO to ensure they are complete and fulfil the competition regulations. After this, a judging panel of external HSE experts will rate the entries. The shortlisted training teams, young achievers and instructor of the year will be announced on social media. Winners will be announced at the Safety & Training Awards Ceremony on October 9th in the United States.

Will I be able to attend the Forum online?

Unfortunately, we will not be streaming the event. The Forum is designed as an interactive event of panel discussions, round tables, and workshop sessions. GWO believes this kind of event is best held face to face. A summary of the event will be published shortly after for the wider community.
